The architect, physician, and high priest who designed the first monumental stone building in history and was later deified as a god of medicine.

Imhotep served as the highest-ranking official under Pharaoh Djoser (Netjerikhet) during Egypt's 3rd Dynasty, bearing titles that included Chancellor of the King, High Priest of Ptah, and First after the King of Upper Egypt. His design and oversight of the Step Pyramid complex at Saqqara β€” the first large-scale stone construction known to history β€” marks a watershed moment in human architectural achievement.

How KHEPRA Knows What It Knows

Trust is not requested at KHEPRA; it is demonstrated. Four practices govern every claim the Institute publishes.

Registered Claims

Every substantive claim receives a permanent KC identifier that never changes. A claim may be strengthened, weakened, or revised β€” but it cannot quietly disappear.

Evidence Grades

Each claim is graded A through D β€” from multiple independent primary sources down to limited evidence and inference. The grade travels with the claim wherever it appears.

Confidence Scores

Every claim carries a confidence score, revisited as evidence grows. Uncertainty is stated in plain view rather than smoothed into silence.

Published Reasoning

Sources, reasoning chains, and unresolved scholarly debates accompany every profile. The Institute shows its work β€” and invites its readers to check it.

Begin Where Your Interest Leads

Four rooms of the Institute stand open. Each is held to the same standard of evidence.

In Closing

KHEPRA keeps a patient account: what is known, how well it is known, and what remains honestly open. This record is built to outlast its makers.
